Those that have been keeping track of the CVS have noticed that there has been a recent checkin. This completed proof-of-concept for the engine and added Linux support.
The issue is that this project required by its very nature a significant effort on the part of the community to be successful. Unfortunately, this just hasn't been seen in the community no matter how many projects get started. There seems to be a 'doing it' problem in the community (though there certainly isn't a problem with submitting opinions). Thus, sadly, this project must end if only because there is little chance of success.
I do have another project (site moved and project delayed, life happened, we'll have to see what the future brings) that I have started. It's a general engine that will be able to be modded (all tools included). It'll be a while (obviously) before it's usable, but because it's a general engine, the community problem is mitigated. Hopefully, one day a secondary project will come about that is a Firefly project. But, hopefully other fandoms will come as well (e.g. Stargate).
At any rate, it's been fun and most of what's here will be re-used. But, it's time to close up shop here and move on to other more plausible projects.
best regards,
Reid
